About Mount Qingcheng National Park

Mount Qingcheng National Park, located in the Dujiangyan region of Sichuan Province, China, is one of the most important centers of Taoism and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The park is dominated by Mount Qingcheng, a mountain famed for its dense forestry, misty peaks, and tranquil streams that create a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The geography features steep valleys, cascading waterfalls, and verdant vegetation, providing a habitat for a variety of endemic plant and animal species. The park’s ecology is characterized by subtropical evergreen broadleaf forests that support rich biodiversity, including rare species such as the Chinese giant salamander and diverse bird populations. Historically, Mount Qingcheng served as a cradle for Taoist philosophy and practice for over 2,000 years, with numerous Taoist temples, pavilions, and historic relics scattered across the landscape, including the prominent Shangqing Palace and Jianfu Palace. Visitors can experience a variety of outdoor recreational activities including hiking along well-marked trails, exploring ancient temples, bird watching, and photography. The scenic hiking routes range from gentle walks to more challenging ascents, all enveloped in verdant canopy and punctuated with cultural landmarks.
